Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching, Germany. His research interests
lie in the physics of the edge and scrape-off layer in magnetic confinement fusion
devices. This covers a wide range of topics, such as gyrokinetic theory, advanced
numerical schemes as well as high performance simulations of turbulence. He is the
current main developer of the GENE-X code and responsible for future developments.
