Nigel Tan is a computer science PhD student under Dr. Michela Taufer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He earned his BS in both Computer Science and Applied Math at the University of California Merced before earning a MS in Computational and Applied Math at Rice University. Nigel's research interests lie in high performance computing with an emphasis on addressing the challenges of performance portability. Including extracting performance from portability frameworks such as Kokkos and providing efficient portable checkpoint-restart capabilities for large scale applications.
