SUMMARY:ALPINE: A Set of Performance Portable Plasma Physics Particle-In-C
 ell Mini-Apps for Exascale
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nALPINE: A Set of Performance Portable Plasma
 Physics Particle-In-Cell Mini-Apps for Exascale\n\nMuralikrishnan, Frey, V
inciguerra, Ligotino, Cerfon...\n\nThe goal of the ALPINE project is to cr
eate a set of mini-apps covering some relevant plasma physics problems tar
geting exascale architectures. The mini-apps serves as a proxy for real pl
asma physics applications. Hence, it can be used as a sandbox for implemen
ting new algorithms and measuring performance on modern computing architec
tures. It is written using the library independent parallel particle layer
(IPPL) which has been recently enhanced with performance portable capabil
ities. We will show strong and weak scaling and analyse the performance of
different components of mini-apps on several pre-exascale architectures s
uch as Piz-Daint, Cori, Perlmutter and Summit.\n\nDomain: Computer Science
  and Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics
