SUMMARY:MS3A - HPC Workflow Automation and Management
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nComputational science projects today consist
of numerous steps and methods which involve multiple software projects and
may run on various devices, from classical HPC systems to cloud-based ser
vices. This makes the workflow itself an integral part of the result, and
Workflow Managers one of the main tools computational scientists will have
to use in their work. By using proper workflow tools, scientific results
can more easily be shared and reproduced, while keeping the process to obt
ain them flexible and transferable. Together with our speakers we look at
the current state of software packages for workflow orchestration and thei
r building blocks to make such an automation possible across supercomputer
 s. We give concrete examples demonstrating how to integrate Machine Learni
ng into scientific workflows in a domain-agnostic way, and show how smart
data management in a workflow allows for asynchronous data analysis to imp
rove time to solution.\n\nSmartSim: Automated, Portable Orchestration of M
L Workflows in HPC\n\nRigazzi\n\nIntegrating ML into HPC simulations has b

culties of this methodology stem from its inherent need to orchestrate and
share data between multiple applications that are often written in differ
ent languages. In this talk, we prese...\n\n---------------------\nHPC Wor

within the specialized realm of HPC, we find a considerable number of Work

overview of the current state of Workflow Managers, including a classifica
