SUMMARY:On the Design of Algebraic Multigrid Methods for Exascale Computer
s and their Use in Numerical Simulations
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nOn the Design of Algebraic Multigrid Methods
for Exascale Computers and their Use in Numerical Simulations\n\nYang\n\nW
ith the increasing inclusion of accelerators into current and future high-
performance computers, it has become important to enable parallel mathemat
ical libraries to take advantage of the increased performance potential of
GPUs. The hypre software library provides high performance preconditioner
s and solvers for the solution of large sparse linear systems on massively
parallel computers with focus on algebraic multigrid (AMG) methods. One o
f its attractive features is the provision of conceptual interfaces, which
include a structured, a semi-structured interface, and a traditional line
ar-algebra-based interface. These interfaces give application users variou
s means for describing their linear systems and provide access to methods
such as structured multigrid solvers, which can take advantage of the addi
tional information beyond just the matrix, as well as unstructured multigr
id solvers. This talk will discuss new developments in hypre and present r
esults of use of hypre’s GPU-enabled multigrid solvers within several appl
ication codes.\n\nDomain: Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Engine
