SUMMARY:Compiler Innovation - A Sea Change for Domain Specific Language De
velopment
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nCompiler Innovation - A Sea Change for Domain
Specific Language Development\n\nVasilache\n\nThe past few years have see
n exciting advances in the compilation stack which promise to be transform
ative for Domain Specific Languages. Indeed, already there has been signif
icant buy in by large companies into technologies such as Multi Level Inte
rmediate Representation (MLIR) which enables the building of reusable comp
iler infrastructure. Such tools and techniques are very exciting for DSLs
because they provide possibilities for increased sharing of code-level inf
rastructure such as traditionally tricky and bespoke activities such as op
timisations performed during compilation and/or the ability to convenientl
y target many hardware platforms.

This talk will explore the l
atest activities and trends in compiler development, discuss why they are
important for DSLs in general, and why HPC codes are ripe for these sorts
of innovations in the technology stack.\n\nDomain: Computer Science and Ap
plied Mathematics
