SUMMARY:MS6F - Advancing Scientific Computing Across the Globe through DEI
: Successes and Challenges in Normalizing Inclusion (Part II)
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nThis minisymposium will examine how diversity
, equity and inclusion (DEI) in computational science are defined and mani
fest across the globe and related topics. DEI takes on different forms in
various contexts and settings across the world, and the related issues and
challenges may have common as well as differing features. The goal of thi
s minisymposium is to gather a variety of perspectives and identify common
alities and differences such that patterns may be identified and approache
s and lessons learned shared. Three major topics include: 1) how is DEI de
fined or manifested in your region, 2) what successful strategies have bee
n implemented to address diversity, and 3) what are the challenges to prom
oting DEI.\n\nWhere Is Everybody?\n\nRouson\n\nIn April, the United States
presidential administration announced a whole-of-government effort focuse
d largely on gathering and increasing access to disaggregated data on the
experiences of historically underserved groups [1]. The importance of disa
