SUMMARY:A Heterogeneous Trigger System for Upgrade LHCb
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nA Heterogeneous Trigger System for Upgrade LH
Cb\n\nGligorov\n\nIn 2022 the upgraded LHCb experiment will use a triggerl
ess readout system collecting data at an event rate of 30 MHz and a data r
ate of 4 Terabytes/second. A software-only High Level Trigger will enable
unprecedented flexibility for trigger selections. During the first stage (
HLT1), track reconstruction and vertex fitting for charged particles enabl
e a broad and efficient selection process to reduce the event rate to 1 MH
 z. Tracking and vertexing at 30 MHz represents a significant computing cha
llenge, and LHCb utilizes the inherent parallelism of the triggering proce
ss to meet throughput requirements with GPUs. We will describe how LHCb's
first-level GPU trigger addresses both the performance and code portabilit
y challenges associated with heterogeneous computing at this scale.\n\nDom
