 s: Heroine's Learning Journey applied to the Machine Learning, Mathematics
  and Ethics Course.\n\nCosta, Lima, Santos, Xexéo\n\nIn recent years, orga
 nizations such as UNESCO and the UN have been developing policies in line 
 with the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 4 - Quality Education 
 and Goal 5 - Gender Equality.<br /><br />The development process of "Heroi
 ne's Learning Journey" was built to be a motivation framework that helps y
 oung women overcome the challenges that are present in STEM courses. Our t
 arget audience is young women, aged between 15 and 21.The first applicatio
 n is in a Machine Learning with Mathematics and Ethics course on the IST M
 OOC platform.<br /><br />The goal is to help young people acquire the basi
 cs of the standard Machine Learning process, while also recognizing the ma
 th that is embedded in some of the algorithms. Being very practical, and i
 ntroducing Python programming, the content also addresses relevant ethical
  issues in data preparation and exploration.<br /><br />The data from the 
 course shows that the journey resulted in an increase in the motivation of
  the girls to participate in the course.<br /><br />The research shows tha
 t it is possible to apply the Heroine’s Learning Journey to a STEM MOOC co
 urse in order to improve the enrollment of girls as well as increasing the
 ir participation during the course and reducing their evasion.
