SUMMARY:P25 - Utopia: a Hardware Portable Library for Large Scale Simulati
 ons in Computational Geophysics
DESCRIPTION:Poster\n\nP25 - Utopia: a Hardware Portable Library for Large
Scale Simulations in Computational Geophysics\n\nZulian, Kopanicakova, Nes
tola, Ganellari, Fadel...\n\nWe present Utopia, an open-source C++ library
for parallel non-linear multilevel solution strategies. Utopia provides t
he advantages of high-level programming interfaces while at the same time
a framework to access low-level data structures without breaking code enca
psulation. Complex numerical procedures can be expressed with few lines of
code, and evaluated by different implementations, libraries, or computing
hardware. In this poster, first, we illustrate a globally convergent solu
tion strategy designed to solve non-convex constrained minimization proble
ms. Second, we provide an overview of its implementation and provide an ov
erview of its parallel performance. Third, we provide simulation. examples
of pressure-induced phase-field fracture propagation in large and complex
fracture networks. Solving such problems is deemed challenging even for a
few fractures, however, here we are considering networks of realistic siz
e with up to 1000 fractures.
