SIGHPC is generously sponsoring travel grants for four undergraduate or graduate students to attend PASC22. Two applicants traveling from within Europe and two applicants traveling from another continent will be selected. The students traveling from within Europe will be awarded a maximum grant of $600, and a maximum allowance of $1200 will be given to the selected students traveling from other continents. Moreover, PASC22 will cover the corresponding registration fee for the selected students.

SIGHPC and PASC22 will favour students who submitted a contribution to PASC22; however, this is not a requirement of the award.

Applications are due by April 10, 2022, with notification provided by April 28, 2022.

To apply, you must provide the following:

  • personal information
  • simple budget (estimated amount for travel and for accommodation, and, if necessary, how do you plan to bridge the gap between the money covered by the grant and the expected extra costs)
  • statement of why you wish to attend PASC22 and what benefits you can gain from participating
  • letter of support from your advisor or head of department (referencing any institutional support or recognition that will be provided)

Please click here to access the application form.

To apply, fill-in the application form and send your letter of support (in PDF format) from the same email address entered on the form to info@remove-this.pasc-conference.org. Please indicate “PASC22 Student Travel Grant” as a subject line.

Selected students will be assigned a mentor for PASC22 who will help them get the most out of the conference by suggesting relevant program sessions and introducing them to experts in their research field.

Olaf Schenk (Università della Svizzera italiana) with Ayesha Afzal and Benjamin Cobb.

Florina Ciorba (University of Basel) with Luis Costa and Anthony Chen.

Some impressions from the PASC Conference student travel grant winners

"PASC22 was an excellent experience. I truly enjoyed this conference, as people from all over the world gave deep and insightful talks about a wide range of research topics, all working with high performance computing in various ways. Receiving a Student Travel Grant was key to making this experience possible for me, and I am deeply grateful that I was selected. I will always treasure this experience, and I look forward to attending future PASC Conferences."

"The diversity of scientific disciplines represented at PASC22 was truly amazing. During the conference I had the opportunity to interact with physicists, chemists, computer scientists, geologists, atmospheric scientists, and more. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to the PASC22 program committee, as wells as ACM SIGHPC, for providing me with the travel grant which made it financially feasible for me to attend the conference in-person."

"As a Ph.D. student, I have participated in conferences in many countries. PASC22, however, was one of the richest experiences. I'm already preparing for PASC23 in Davos, inviting researchers to present papers and telling everyone in my network how amazing this event is. Thank you PASC22 and see you at PASC23."

"I'm grateful to ACM SIGHPC for providing the travel grant and the mentorship in the PASC22 conference. "
